Edmonton Zone Continuing Care provides services through five main program areas: Home Living, Supportive Living, Facility Living, Transition Services and Palliative Care. We are looking for a Registered Nurse Weekend Coordinator to join our Home Living team to provide professional support services in the homes of clients of all ages and stages of life. Please note that the primary location will be based out of Edmonton Community Health Hub North and will be required to assist at other sites in the Edmonton Zone. This position requires a 11.08 hours’ shift every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. As a self-directed team member with Continuing Care in the Edmonton zone, the Registered Nurse Weekend Coordinator works collaboratively with the health care team and has responsibilities, including assessment of needs, delivering appropriate therapeutic nursing services within professional practice standards, coordinating resources, establishing goals for client delivery, and evaluating outcomes. This position also entails network triage during the day and will take a lead role in planning the workload for the weekends; includes liaising with Community Care Access to provide direct care in the community and home clinics.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum of 5 years of recent Home Care nursing experience. Self-directed and the ability to work independently and use sound professional judgement. Excellent organizational skills – to be able to prioritize and efficiently organize many details in a timely manner. Communication and assessment skills to work cooperatively and effectively with the healthcare team members, clients, and their families in a fast-paced environment. At the time of interview, you will be required to demonstrate your computer knowledge and proficiency by completing a skills test. Must have working knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), Visio, Outlook and Internet. Physically capable of performing nursing tasks which could include transfer of clients. The successful candidate will work independently in clients’ homes, which could include congregate settings, single family dwellings, condos and/or walk-up apartments. Therefore, the successful candidate must be able to work in different settings and environments (home environments and weather conditions), as well as be able to lift and carry medical bags, which weigh approximately 25-30 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:Baccalaureate degree in nursing. Palliative care experience. Triage experience. Demonstration and experience in leadership roles. Experience with Connect Care and RAI assessment tools. Current Case Management Experience in Continuing Care.
