Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum of 3-5 years of recent Continuing Care nursing experience Self-directed and the ability to work independently and use sound professional judgement. Excellent organizational skills – to be able to prioritize and efficiently organize many details promptly. Communication and assessment skills to work cooperatively and effectively with the healthcare team members, clients, and their families in a fast-paced environment, identifying needs via teletriage, and resolving conflicts. Ability to identify and manage risk and to mitigate and diffuse those situations. At the time of the interview, you may be required to demonstrate your computer knowledge and proficiency by completing a hands-on assessment. You must demonstrate sufficient typing speed to meet workload demand and navigate through various computer programs including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), Visio, Outlook and Internet. Physically capable of performing nursing tasks which could include the transfer of clients. The successful candidate will work independently in clients’ homes, which could include congregate settings, single-family dwellings, condos and/or walk-up apartments. Therefore, the successful candidate must be able to work in different settings and environments (home environments and weather conditions), as well as be able to lift and carry medical bags, which weigh approximately 25-30 lbs. Addit. Pref. Quals.: 2 years current Case Management Experience in Continuing Care.
Preferred Qualifications:Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing Palliative care experience is an asset. Demonstrated leadership and/or management experience. Must be able to work independently and within a team environment. Triage experience. Must be able to cope with high levels of stress, fluctuating priorities, and time-sensitive deadlines. Experience with Meditech and Connect Care Experience with introducing new initiatives and working on change management.
