Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Eligibility is restricted to Graduate Nurses, Graduate Psychiatric Nurses, Registered Nurses and Registered Psychiatric Nurses who have graduated within 12 months prior to the anticipated start date of the program and who have not yet obtained a regular position with AHS, Covenant Health, or Recovery Alberta. Candidates selected for an interview must review the UNA Letter of Understanding #29 - Graduate Nurse Transition Pilot Program prior to the interview. Additional Required Qualifications:Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Critical thinking and clinical judgment skills developed through academic and practicum experiences. Proficient in clinical assessment techniques appropriate to entry-level practice. Effective time management and organizational abilities, with a willingness to adapt in fast-paced environments. Basic computer literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and electronic health records - Epic (Connect Care). Physically capable of meeting the demands of the position, including standing for extended periods, lifting, transferring patients, and performing other direct care tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:Final clinical practicum in acute care, surgical, and/or orthopedic settings is strongly preferred. Interest in orthopedic or general surgical nursing; prior exposure through clinical placements is an asset. Acute care or previous heath care experience preferred. Connect care training is preferred.
