Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

The successful incumbent will be expected to: Have a working knowledge of Physical and Mental Status Assessments are required. Interact effectively with diverse populations including gender, cultural, sexual and socio-economic, particularly the homeless and people who use drugs. Be self-directed and exercise independent decision making, sound nursing judgment and critical thinking skills to respond quickly and appropriately to the changing priorities. Strong skills in de-escalating situations of agitation and aggression. Proficient in emergency response especially in overdose response. Strong leadership skills including the ability to identify safety concerns and mentor staff. Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively maintain collaborative working relationships with the interdisciplinary team. Exhibit strong time management and prioritization skills, with a demonstrated ability to function effectively within a dynamic environment. Be proficient and knowledgeable with Microsoft Office programs and data management programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

Two years of recent adult addiction and mental health inpatient nursing experience is preferred. Charge Nurse experience. Knowledge and understanding of blood borne pathogens and sexually transmitted infections. Knowledge and experience utilizing the principles and practice of harm reduction, including prevention, recognition and response to opioid overdose. Experience working with marginalized and diverse populations. Experience developing and delivering health promotion and health education.
