Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Completion of a recognized emergency/critical care education program equivalent to those required to currently work in an Emergency Department in Alberta Health Services. Completion of Stroke Ambulance training/orientation course. Minimum 2 years of recent and relevant experience working in a Tertiary Emergency Department. Minimum one year of experience and comfort in the administration of fibrinolytic therapies and the clinical management of patients who receive them. Ability to be flexible in hours. Copes well in high stress environments and possess critical thinking, assessment, communication and interpersonal skills essential. Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills. Must be able to identify own learning needs and seek guidance in professional practice where knowledge deficits occur.
Preferred Qualifications:Certified Emergency Nurse (C.N.A. or C.N.E.) an asset. Preference will be given to those with one or more of the following certifications: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
