Registered Nurse - Seasonal Immunization Casual Immunizer
Your Opportunity:
The Seasonal Immunization Casual Immunizer plays an integral role in supporting Health Shared Services, Workplace Health & Safety’s (WHS) Seasonal Health Care Worker Immunization Campaign. In this role, you will provide influenza and COVID immunizations as well as education to health care workers, students, physicians, and volunteers across the Edmonton Provincial Health Agencies and Provincial Health Corporation sites. You will work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to promote vaccine uptake and support workplace health, safety, and disease prevention. Immunization services are delivered in a variety of settings, including acute care sites and other facilities across urban and rural locations within the Edmonton area. This position requires working in a fast-paced, high-volume clinic environment with extended periods of standing, sitting, and repetitive motion. Responsibilities include clinic setup and teardown, including packing, lifting, pushing, pulling, and transporting supplies weighing up to 25 lbs. between sites. You will complete point-of-care electronic documentation and reporting of administered immunizations in accordance with WHS guidelines. This role also requires adherence to cold chain standards, including proper vaccine storage, handling, and transport. Travel to various Edmonton area sites may be required. Successful candidates will be required to complete mandatory training for immunizers. This is a casual position with availability expected between September 28 to November 6, 2026, and is well suited to adaptable, detail-oriented practitioners who value teamwork, flexibility, and contributing to a safe and healthy workforce. Applicants must be currently employed in a casual or part-time position within a Provincial Health Agency or Provincial Health Corporation.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, you must complete the following free courses: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4), available at https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules/ and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification, available at https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.
Additional Required Qualifications:Experience administering injections or immunizations through clinical placements or employment. Graduate Nurses (GNs) actively pursuing licensure and in an active placement with a PHA or PHC are welcome to apply and will be considered based on clinical readiness and program needs. Physical and work environment requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. Ability to bend, twist, kneel, and respond safely to emergency situations. Ability to perform repetitive arm movements at shoulder height. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Ability to work in environments without consistent ergonomic setup. Clinical and technical competencies: Proficiency with Connect Care and electronic documentation at the point of care. Strong organizational, time management, and attention-to-detail skills. Demonstrated critical thinking, initiative, and decision-making ability. Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Strong communication skills and ability to engage with diverse populations. Commitment to quality, safety, and infection prevention practices, including proper hand hygiene. Flexibility to work at multiple locations across the Edmonton area sites as required.
Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor of Nursing (BN). Occupational health, public health, or immunization experience. Experience with Connect Care or other electronic health record systems.
