Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:One year of nursing experience in an acute inpatient adult/geriatric psychiatric setting within the last 3 years. Consideration may be given to new grads who have completed a final preceptorship in a geriatric mental setting within the last 6 months. Knowledge of mental health diagnoses (DSM V), symptomology and related treatment modalities/interventions. Crisis management skills including Suicide Risk Assessments, interventions, and treatment and de-escalation skills. Computer proficiency in Microsoft suite.
Preferred Qualifications:Group therapy facilitation. Experience working with geriatric patients. Working knowledge of Collaborative Problem Solving. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training (NVCI) certification within the last 2 years. Training and experience in therapeutic modalities such as: Trauma Informed Care, CBT, DBT and/or other evidence-based modalities. Participation in professional development and educational programs. Participation in working groups, committees or quality improvement initiatives.
