Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Demonstrated knowledge of case management. Demonstrate effective time management and organizational skills. Demonstrated critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making abilities. Must be able to provide direction to other health care workers. Basic computer skills required. Ability to work independently and in conjunction with other team members. Demonstrate ability to adapt quickly to changing and fluctuating workload. Demonstrate initiative, accountability, interpersonal and communication skills. Must be able to lift 40lbs (18kg). The AKC-N program requires candidates to complete/pass Hemodialysis Training. Hemodialysis Training is held in Edmonton or Red Deer depending on availability. Hemodialysis orientation will take 6 weeks: 4 weeks on unit training and 2 weeks of buddy shifts (or equivalent hours). A passing mark of 80% on the final exam and satisfactory performance during clinical component is required to move on to buddy shifts. Required to attend 1-day mandatory post orientation (3 Months Post) in person for Edmonton zone employees and via zoom for outside of the Edmonton Zone employees.
Preferred Qualifications:Candidates with previous experience will be required to complete Hemodialysis Training as per Manager/Educators discretion. Preference will be given to candidates with recent acute and chronic Hemodialysis, Nephrology nursing experience.
