Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum 3 years recent (within the last 5 years) experience in Adult Mental Health. While having worked the last 1 year in an acute psychiatric or an urgent community based mental health service. Minimum 3 years’ experience working with a similar population in an adult acute hospital or psychiatric treatment setting. Working knowledge/ understanding of Mental Health diagnoses (DSM-V) is required. Experience and ability to conduct psychiatric and psychosocial assessment, treatment planning, crisis intervention, and medication management required. Working knowledge of the Addiction and Mental Health related resources across the Calgary zone, and how to utilize them to create a comprehensive discharge plan. Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary and interdepartmental team setting. Excellent interpersonal skills, well developed verbal and written skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Non Violent Crisis Intervention training is an asset.
