Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4): https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification: https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.
Additional Required Qualifications:Recent inpatient mental health experience. Demonstrated knowledge of child and adolescent development and family dynamics. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with multi-disciplinary team members. Understanding and experience with supportive counselling skills. Strong interpersonal skills are required. Strong organizational, independent problem-solving, and communication skills are required. Adaptive and innovative approach given the continuously changing environment essential. Computer skills required.
Preferred Qualifications:Brain Story Certification. Training in and excellent working knowledge of Collaborative Problem Solving, Attachment Theory and Trauma Informed Care. Experience using evidence-based interventions for children and adolescents with psychiatric disorders. Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI).
