Completion of an accredited Psychiatric nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Experience working with children and families required. Minimum 1 year inpatient psychiatry experience required. Physically able to lift 11 kg, climb 3 flights of stairs, participate in gym activities and escort children to the seclusion room or use physical restraints when required. This position works with children and youth who are experiencing significant mental health and/or behavior issues who may demonstrate dysregulation, loud voices, anger and/or anxiety.
Preferred Qualifications:Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred; however, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in community sector will be considered. Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention or Effective De-Escalation Techniques training preferred. Experience with insertion and maintenance of nasogastric feeding tubes preferred. Experience with PICC line maintenance preferred. 2 years current Pediatric/Adolescent Mental Health nursing, preferred.
