Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Current Knowledge of direct data entry in Phantim and/or Meditech systems required. - At least 2 years current (within the last 2-3 years) PHN experience required. (immunization of all age groups and the school vaccination program, etc.). Able to recognize and respond to potential critical situation and adapts techniques, approaches and procedures to the challenges inherent to the situation/setting (emergency response) required. Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population. Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and able to exercise independent nursing judgment. Proven critical thinking and decision-making skills. Must be able to multitask and prioritize. A strong knowledge of infant/child growth and development and breastfeeding knowledge required. Demonstrated strong abilities to work independently and in a team environment. Strength and ability to porter minimum 20 lb. equipment and supplies to alternate sites required. Physically able to perform all duties listed in the "PHN job description/Hazard inventory Assessment Control Worksheet (HIAC) including working conditions". Extended periods of sitting and standing are required. Baccalaureate degree in nursing is preferred; however skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in community sector will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

Immunization Competencies Education Program (ICEP) as developed by the Canadian Pediatric Society/Public Health. Agency of Canada/Health Canada an asset. Community Health Nursing Certification an asset. International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) Certification is an asset. Knowledge of community based support services an asset. Experience with collaborative partnerships an asset.
