Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Recent experience (within the past two years) in Public health nursing or other recent nursing experience in maternal/postpartum and newborn assessment and care, NICU, Pediatrics, Labour and Delivery or Occupational Health and Safety with immunization experience is required. Ability to be self-directed and to exercise independent nursing judgment required. Strong interpersonal skills required. Experience in interdisciplinary team work required. Strong written and oral communication skills required. Strong analytical, critical thinking, decision making, and organizational skills required. Working knowledge of computer applications including basic word processing, email, and Internet access and data entry required. Canadian Nurses Assn Certification in Community Health Nursing an asset; International Board of Lactation Consultants certification. EMR experience.
Preferred Qualifications:Baccalaureate degree in Nursing (BN), Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or Bachelor of Nursing is preferred, but other skills and experiences relevant to nursing practice in the community sector will be considered. Experience (within past 2 years) immunizing babies, preschool, school aged children & adults. Experience working with teens, diverse cultures, rural, & marginalized populations, knowledge, understanding & demonstrated use of the social determinants of health & health promotion.
