Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Must possess strong assessment, communication, organizational, problem solving, and counseling skills. Must be able to work as a part of an interdisciplinary team. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision in a complex dynamic environment. Effective communication skills required, oral and written. Demonstrated advanced critical thinking skills. Demonstrated decision making skills. Ability to work in a fast paced, independent and changing environment. Public Health Nursing (PHN) requires individuals to conduct work both in a clinic setting as well as community settings including in homes of clients. External environmental considerations would impact working conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred; however, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in community sector will be considered. Public Health nursing experience including immunization, Healthy Beginnings, and Child Health Clinic preferred. Other desirable recent nursing experience includes maternal/postpartum and newborn assessment. Knowledge of Meditech processes is preferred. Min 2 years’ experience within last 5 years working in public health.
