Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Qualifications:Baccalaureate degree in Nursing (BN) is required. Other recent nursing experience in maternal/postpartum and newborn assessment and care, NICU, Pediatrics or Labour and Delivery is required. Recent experience immunizing babies, preschool and/or school aged children is required; Strong written and oral communication skills required; Strong analytical, critical thinking, decision making, and organizational skills required; This position requires a vehicle for business use. Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to a motor vehicle in good repair for work-related travel is required; Working knowledge of computer applications including basic word processing, e-mail, internet access, and data entry required. Ability to be self-directed and to exercise independent nursing judgment required; Strong interpersonal skills required; Experience in interdisciplinary team work required; Experience working with teens, diverse cultures, and marginalized populations and knowledge, understanding and demonstrated use of the determinants of health and health promotion required.
Preferred Qualifications:Meditech experience is preferred; Recent experience in public health nursing; Healthy Beginnings, Child Health Clinic and School Health is preferred. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or Bachelor of Nursing is preferred, but other skills and experiences relevant to nursing practice in the community sector will be considered.
