Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:AHS Rockyview Operating Room will provide specialty Perioperative training. Commitment to a comprehensive 12-week training program, in-class/online theory learning, 60 hours of labs, 380 hours of clinical practicums. followed by a full-time orientation is required. This temporary one-year position is built upon three phases: Phase 1 - online theory education/on-site instruction Phase 2 - 8 days in-person lab (Grant MacEwan). Phase 3 - Clinical on-site (Rockyview) practicum of 380 hours or as determined by proof of competency. Ability to wear lead apron radiograph protection and any personal protective equipment (PPE) for an extended period of time. Ability to stand scrubbed for hours to support the surgical team.
Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in nursing. 4th year nursing student focus experience Operating Room. Current ACLS or PALS certification.
