Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:AHS Foothills Medical Center Operating Room will provide specialty Perioperative training. Commitment to a comprehensive 14 week training program, followed by a full time orientation is required. This temporary one year position is built upon two phases: Phase 1 – Perioperative didactic and clinical practicum – 14 weeks. Phase 2 – Orientation to solidify practical knowledge and skill – 38 weeks. Phase 2 requires successful completion of all criteria from phase 1. If an individual is not successful in completing phase 1, the temporary position would end (earlier than the expected, posted date). Completion of the perioperative nursing course is required. Ability to wear lead apron radiograph protection and any personal protective equipment (PPE) for an extended period of time. Ability to stand scrubbed for hours to support the surgical team.
Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. 4th year nursing student focus experience Operating Room. Current ACLS or PALS certification.
