Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:AHS will provide specialty Perioperative training. Commitment to a comprehensive 14-week training program, followed by a full time orientation is required. This temporary one-year position is built upon two phases: Phase 1 – Perioperative didactic and clinical practicum – 14 weeks. Phase 2 – Orientation to solidify practical knowledge and skill – 38 weeks. Phase 2 requires successful completion of all criteria from phase 1. If an individual were not successful in completing phase 1, the temporary position would end (earlier than the expected, posted date). Graduation from a recognized nursing education program required. Ability to stand scrubbed for many hours and to meet the physical demands of the position (including, but not limited to: bending, pushing/pulling, reaching, lifting twisting and squatting). Ability to wear lead apron protection for extended periods. The successful candidate will display: Strong communication and collaboration skills within a highly complex interdisciplinary team. Problem solving skills integrating critical thinking and sound nursing judgment. Time management skills and adaptability in a rapidly moving environment. Leadership and conflict resolution skills.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience in a critical care area such as ICU or Emergency Room is preferred. University preparation is preferred. Ability to perform consistently in a highly organized, rapid moving, complex environment. Ability to collaborate within the expectations of a highly complex integrated team. Demonstrated advanced problem solving skills integrating critical thinking and good judgment.
