Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4): https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification: https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.
Additional Required Qualifications:Current experience in an acute care setting, including surgical and/or exposure to or experience in an operating room environment. Demonstrate a strong interest in working in a surgical suite (Operating Room) environment. Shows readiness and dedication to engage fully in a structured six-month perioperative education course. Commitment to the Perioperative Specialty area upon completion of the program and orientation period. Willing and able to travel to designated sites, campuses, and clinical practice areas as required. Ability to meet the physical demands of the role while consistently performing in a fast-paced, highly organized clinical environment. Proficiency in collaborating within the expectations of an integrated team. Displayed advanced problem-solving skills integrating critical thinking and good judgment. Demonstrated communication skills promoting respect and team engagement.
Preferred Qualifications:Recent graduates who have gained operating room experience and/or exposure during their final preceptorship preferred.
