Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:PALS certification required within 6 months of hire. Strong assessment skills to recognize and respond appropriately to patient/client change in status. Patient transfer assessment skills. Communication skills and ability to adapt communication style to meet the needs of specific patients/clients, and to relay patient/client information to physicians who are often off-site in a concise, accurate manner in order to facilitate the physician’s treatment decisions. Demonstrated organization and prioritization skills. Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team environment and to effectively contribute to patient/client care planning processes. Reliable and dependable. Strong written and verbal communication required. Demonstrated leadership skills required. Demonstrated skills in conflict management. Ability to safeguard AHS information as private and confidential. Ability to follow and adhere to AHS policies, procedures, goals and objectives. Ability to perform duties as outlined on the Physical Demand Statement (PDS) for the position.
Preferred Qualifications:2-3 years acute care experience. Preference given to those who have Pediatrics experience. Proven technical and clinical skills pertinent to Pediatric nursing preferred. Knowledge of new/current trends in Pediatrics nursing preferred. Current pediatric IV therapy/experience preferred. Charge nurse experience. Current knowledge of Cardio/Respiratory monitoring preferred. Pediatric Mental Health experience beneficial.
