Your Opportunity:

Health Shared Services (HSS) has an exciting leadership position as an Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) in the Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) Department in the Edmonton Zone. In this role, you will work with a high degree of independence and in collaboration with the WHS Leadership Team to plan and implement programs to ensure the health protection of HSS People (employees, physicians, volunteers, and students). The position develops and manages various programs and provides ongoing client support between individuals, departments, sites and portfolios as well as other involved partners. The position will provide leadership to assist in the development of strategies for the coordination and delivery of educational tools/resources and assist with the implementation of assigned projects, programs and procedures for employee health surveillance. The Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) is involved with patient care including immunization, blood and body fluid exposures and communicable disease exposures. You will provide input into the needs of HSS People in relation to health promotion, safety/hygiene, and disease/injury prevention programs. The position will interpret client needs, assess requirements and identify solutions to nonstandard issues, counsel and educate clients on health and wellness in the workplace, and provide input into policy and process development. Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, you must complete the following free courses: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4), available at https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules/ and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification, available at https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Facilitation and/or coordination experience in project planning, execution, reporting, monitoring and evaluation is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered, including completion of the Occupational Health Nursing Post Diploma/Degree Certificate within three (3) years of hire date. CNA Certified Occupational Health Nursing (C) Canada preferred.
