Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum two (2) years obstetrics nursing experience within the last five (5) years. Advanced educational studies on obstetrics, including fetal monitoring or midwifery, and a certificate in Newborn Resuscitation are required. Successful completion of a medication exam is required at the time of interview. Able to meet Physical Demands Requirements due to emergent nature of unit: Work postures include significant walking and/or standing. Seated work with significant arm and/or leg force exerted to use controls. Heavy 51-100 lbs. handled occasionally, 21-50 lbs. handled frequently, 0-20 lbs. handled constantly. Heavy - Assist doctor with delivery of baby (if holding patient leg is required). Patient handling – Move patient and bed to the operation room (an emergency situation) from L&D room. Transfer to stretcher in OR of heavier patients (occasionally), turning, boosting. Assist to ambulate patient to the washroom post epidural. Empty and move linen bags.

Preferred Qualifications:

Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred; however, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice will be considered. Operating room and post-anesthetic recovery room experience. Preference will be given to applicants with recent experience in a tertiary care facility Obstetrics Department.
