Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Baccalaureate degree. High degree of cultural competence embedded experience as it relates to working with Indigenous people. At least 5 years of experience providing significant direct health care services to Indigenous families/communities; or being someone who has lived at minimum 5 consecutive years as a participant member within an Indigenous community. Case management coordination i.e. discharge planning, teaching medical complex care scenarios to patient and families. Minimum requirements: 2 years minimum required of hospital in patient experience. 2 years charge nurse or leadership equivalent experience. 2 years pediatric health care experience, or mental health experience.
Preferred Qualifications:Home care experience preferred with knowledge of transitional planning. Indigenous programming or health care certificates. Indigenous heritage an asset. Fluency in an Indigenous language is an asset (preferably Cree or Dene). We encourage Indigenous candidates to self- identify. Knowledge of local Indigenous history and experience in local Indigenous culture. Broad knowledge of Indigenous history and cultures within Alberta.
