Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Home Care Case Management experience within the last 2 years. Knowledge of and skills in applying Home Care Nursing Practice Standards. Knowledge of Continuing Care Health Service Standards. Negotiating skills with clients, caregivers and families. Family assessment skills. Effective oral and written communication. Working independently and as member of a team. Working with people in a health care environment with professionalism and respect. Positive approach and good listening skills in dealing with challenging situations with empathy and sincerity. Understanding of principles of Palliative Care. Knowledge of Alberta Aids to Daily Living (AADL) Program. Ability to perform all assigned tasks and direct clinical care including but not limited to: Constant adjustment of position (sit/stand) throughout the shift. Physical exertion including bending/walking/sitting or standing for long periods of time. Keyboarding documentations for prolonged periods of time. Ability to perform all duties in accordance with related legislation. Ability to be on call as required.
Preferred Qualifications:Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred: however, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in the community sector will be considered. Recent geriatric clinical experience.
