Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, you must complete the following free courses: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4), available at https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules/ and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification, available at https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 1 year Medical/Surgical or Acute Care RN experience within the last two years required; however, equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. Demonstrated excellent assessment, organization and patient care skills required along with the ability to communicate findings in a concise and accurate manner. Must be able to identify own learning needs and seek guidance in professional practice where knowledge deficits occur. In this position, you will be on your feet for an extended period of time (both walking and standing), and you must be able to assist in transporting, lifting and positioning of patients. You will also be required to bend, lift, push, and pull equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:At least 1 year of Emergency RN experience. A minimum of 2 years in Med/Surg/Acute Care an asset. Recent tertiary/urban nursing practice and critical care experience within the last 2 years. Preference is given to applicants holding at least 3 of the following certifications—ACLS, TNCC, ENPC, PALS, NRP (with certificates provided prior to interview). A Certified Emergency Nurse designation (CAN or CNE). Strong assessment, organizational, patient care, and leadership skills are preferred.
