Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:A senior Registered Nurse (RN) in a leadership role at the Cold Lake Healthcare Centre’s Emergency Department, is defined as an RN with more than five (5) years current and active emergency room nursing experience, current CTAS and ACLS certifications, and a nurse capable of the role of Duty Nurse after hours and weekends. your responsibilities will include overseeing the overall operations of the Emergency Department during their scheduled shift and delegation of duties, breaks, and workload for their shift team members including nurses, unit clerks, service workers, screeners, and health care aides. Coordinating patient flow, patient transfers, collaboration with RAAPID, EMS dispatch and ground ambulance, STARS, and patients received in private vehicles including but not limited to utilizing iRequest. Record keeping, Scheduling, inventory, drug cabinets. You will ensure all standards, policies and procedures for all staff working on shift. Determine appropriate staffing levels, initiate charge to charge conversations with Acute Care. Identify and communicate any unsafe situations, incidents, practices, or performance issues to the Unit Manager in written or verbal report and/or delegate staff member to complete reports as appropriately required through RLS or MySafetyNet, as well as all other duties delegated by the Unit Manager.
