Your Opportunity:

This Registered Nurse opportunity is at the Strathcona Community Hospital; this facility offers a 24/7 Emergency Department and a variety of Ambulatory, Laboratory, and Diagnostic Imaging services. This position is the “front line” representative in delivering care within the Emergency Department and IV Therapy Clinic. Based on a primary health care model, the incumbent functions within a multidisciplinary team, and is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care. The incumbent performs a variety of nursing duties in accordance with clinical policies and nursing care standards. This includes involvement with; health promotion and prevention, health education, and treatment of illness and injury.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Incumbent must have the ability to balance numerous demands and conflicting priorities within a busy environment. Successful candidates are responsible for providing proof of active registration with the College & Association of Nurses. Minimum of 2 years and recent experience, in an Emergency setting is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Pediatric experience is an asset. Preference will be given to candidates with the following certifications: ACLS, PALS, ENPC, TNCC, CTAS. Bachelor of Science degree in nursing is preferred.
