Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Experience in facilitating chronic disease management education sessions, utilizing health change and motivational interviewing skills, and supporting clients in both group and individual appointment settings. Community engagement experiences is essential. Communications skills and ability to adapt communication style to meet the needs of specific clients and to relay client information to physicians, who may be geographically removed, in a concise, accurate manner in order to facilitate the physician's treatment decisions.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor degree in nursing from an accredited institution; graduate from an accredited registered nursing program with related experience may be considered. Experience in cardiac risk reduction, diabetes education, weight management, and lifestyle/behavior change across the life span. Certified diabetes educator status. Critical thinking skills and ability to balance numerous demands and conflicting priorities. Assessment skills to recognize and respond appropriately to client change in status.
