Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:As a bona fide occupational requirement and under Section 11 of the Alberta Human Rights Act, only Indigenous applicants will be considered. A high degree of cultural competence embedded experience as it related to working with Indigenous people. At least 5 years' experience providing significant direct health care services to Indigenous families/communities or being someone who has live at minimum 5 consecutive years as a participant member within Indigenous community. Case management coordination, i.e., discharge planning, teaching complex medical care scenarios to patients and families. Strong verbal and written communication skills; the ability to engage in meaningful and solution-focused discussions with stakeholders and partners is imperative. Strong negotiation and mitigation skills; ability to remain professional and composed during times of adversity.
Preferred Qualifications:Home care experience, knowledge of transitional planning. Indigenous programming or health care certificates. Broad knowledge of Indigenous history within the healthcare system and the associated impacts on overall health outcomes. Fluency in Indigenous language is an asset.
