Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum of one year current (within 2 years) nursing experience in an acute care setting required. Demonstrated effective time management skills required. Demonstrated critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills required. Demonstrated excellent assessment, organizational and patient care skills required. Ability to communicate findings in a concise and accurate manner required. Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills required. Must be able to provide direction to other health care workers. Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft Word and Outlook. Successful candidate must be able to lift 40 lbs. (18kg) and demonstrate physical ability to move apheresis and dialysis equipment between inpatient and outpatient units Must be able to attend Hemodialysis training (if not already trained) in Edmonton or Red Deer. Upon successful completion of the Hemodialysis training course in either Edmonton or Red Deer; pass mark of 80% on the final exam and satisfactory performance during the clinical component is required to move onto buddy shifts. Unit specific orientation shifts will be assigned by the hiring manager. Required to attend 2-day mandatory post orientation three months. On call required.
Preferred Qualifications:Preference will be given to applicants with current (within 2 years) Apheresis or hemodialysis experience. Nephrology Certification is an asset. Familiarity with NIS and AHS databases is an asset. Knowledge of case management is an asset.
