Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Registration with CRNA. The candidate must have current Critical Care experience - 2000 hours of work experience within the last 3 years while practicing in critical care areas such as ICU, NICU, PACU, ER. Completion of Orientation Program for Adult Critical Care in Alberta (OPACCA) education course or equivalent. Current certifications in: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Peripheral Access Vascular Devise (PVAD) insertion, care, flushing and removal are required. Completion of the Procedural Sedation (PS) qualification exam and medical administration skills checklist are required. The incumbent must possess excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, have a positive attitude, and initiative and be highly motivated with the ability to work independently and under supervision. Must meet eligibility and be prepared to enroll in an accredited Anesthesia Assistant training program (A graduate from a RN program and have 2000 hours of work experience within the last 3 years while practicing in critical care areas such as ICU, NICU, PACU, ER).
Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor of Nursing degree. Certifications in intubation, arterial line insertion and autologous transfusion are an asset. The preferred candidate must be willing to complete additional Edmonton Zone anesthesia care team education. Applicants with expertise in Connect Care and experience with interprofessional teams are preferred.
