Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 5 to 7 years of current acute care medical/surgical clinical and critical care experience required. Competence in applying knowledge, skills, judgment and attributes required for safe, independent and inter-professional practice. Competence in integrating reflection, critical thinking, education and experience to inform practice. Demonstrated commitment to providing quality service that includes client participation, effective communication using a variety of approaches and purposeful collaboration within and among teams to achieve client care goals. Current understanding and knowledge of a variety of anticoagulation therapies required. Demonstrated excellence in collaborative decision making required. Experience and expertise in adult teaching and learning required. Recent ambulatory care experience required. Charge nurse experience required. Experience in developing protocol/procedures. Ability to withstand prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending required. Ability to assist patients with mobility issues required. Ability to function independently is required. Ability to function with various interruptions through-out the day and the ability to be moved to various other areas, depending on the workload, is required. Ability to work in a fast paced acute care environment with frequent interruptions and unexpected changes in patient’s conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:Baccalaureate nursing degree preferred.
