Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:2 years acute care nursing experience within the last 4 years required. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, required. Demonstrated effective patient teaching experience (both written and verbal). Demonstrated strong critical thinking skills. Demonstrated proficiency in clinical assessment skills. Demonstrated high functioning time-management and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to prioritize in a rapidly changing environment. Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills- knowledge of SCM, Windows Office, Outlook and AHS email. Demonstrated initiative, flexibility and independence of nursing practice in a multidisciplinary team environment. Demonstrated ability to successfully establish relationships with both patients and their families and engage them in their care.
Preferred Qualifications:1 year South Health Campus Day Surgery experience within the past 3 years preferred. Recent charge nurse experience preferred. Previous experience preceptoring, orientating and/or mentoring new staff and/or students preferred.
