The Lois Hole Hospital for Women provides expert patient care for women of all ages and in all stages of life, located at the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH) one of Alberta’s largest and longest-serving hospitals. Centrally located in Edmonton’s downtown core, the RAH serves a diverse community, including some of our province’s most vulnerable populations. As a Registered Nurse, you will demonstrate a professional attitude while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and consider the Essential Habits as set forth by the AHS Way in daily interactions with colleagues, patients, and visitors. Responsibilities of this position include handling obstetrical emergencies and caring for high-risk women with obstetrical complications and/or medical conditions complicated by pregnancy. This position will require a high level of resiliency and ability to deal with a stressful, high pace tertiary care environment delivering high-risk obstetrical care. This is a multi-unit position requiring the successful incumbent to work in Antepartum, Labour and Delivery, and Assessment Induction/Triage.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.

Additional Required Qualifications:

CPR (BCLS) through Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required. Fetal Health Surveillance (FHS) required. Labour and Delivery experience/training required. Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the antepartum period, the labor and delivery process and the immediate postpartum period and possesses a basic knowledge of newborn assessment and breastfeeding.
