Registered Nurse
Your Opportunity:
A Registered Nurse in the Post Anesthetic Care Unit (PACU) is responsible for the provision of comprehensive patient care in a critical and highly specialized area. The Registered Nurse demonstrates a professional and caring approach to patients and families using the primary/team nursing model. The PACU nurse has strong organizational and prioritization skills and functions autonomously in the PACU setting: acts as the primary care provider for patients; uses technical skills and clinical judgment in the delivery of professional nursing care to patients. The PACU nurse participates in collaborative practice with other members of the Multidisciplinary Health Care Team.
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
Additional Required Qualifications:As required.
Preferred Qualifications:PACU Course preferred. Recent Adult PACU experience preferred. ACLS highly recommended. 2 years of PACU/Acute Care/Cardiac Monitoring preferred (Inpatient Surgery, Acute Care Site). Proven ability to apply critical analysis in a critical environment that is evolving constantly. Proven ability to think on your feet in a fast-paced and at times, stressful environment.
