Your Opportunity:

As the Assistant Head Nurse (AHN) in Cardston, you will work in collaboration with the Site Manager, supporting and assisting staff with the day-to-day clinical decision making that occurs. The AHN will have the opportunity to utilize their in-depth knowledge, skills, critical thinking, and judgement as part of an interdisciplinary team in a busy rural setting across multiple departments. The AHN role requires an individual who can follow direction from AHS Leadership, who understands change management and who uses ingenuity and innovation in their problem solving. Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Current certification for IV, defibrillation, and BGM. Demonstrates ability to work in a highly acute, very busy multi-disciplinary setting. Minimum one-year Emergency Room experience preferred. Must demonstrate organization, prioritization, and critical-thinking skills. The successful applicant will assume unit leadership and charge responsibilities consistent with their level of experience. Evidence of integrity, initiative and sound judgment. Demonstrate commitment to professional development. Ability to function effectively in a team environment. Excellent interpersonal and team communication skills. Demonstrate accountability for own practice. Must be committed to promoting a positive work environment. Must possess strong communication/interpersonal skills. Knowledge and skills relating to complex discharge planning. Holds Current CRNA License for 1 year.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred ACLS, TNCC, CTAS. FERN, LERN and rural experience.
