Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
Additional Required Qualifications:2 years in the last 5 of critical care experience. The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate competency in a high-acuity interventional cardiac environment, including: Interventional scrub training (or willingness to obtain). Ability to wear a lead apron (15–20 lbs.) for prolonged periods of time. Ability to manage a high volume of patient transfers throughout each shift. Participation in on-call coverage for urgent and emergent Cardiac Cath Lab procedures, including evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays. Rotation between the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and Cardiac Recovery Room as scheduled. Advanced hemodynamic monitoring systems (or willingness to obtain). Clinical experience requirements: Minimum of two (2) years of recent critical care experience. Applicants must not have been away from a critical care environment for more than two (2) years. Completion of a recognized Critical Care Course is an asset. Current certifications in defibrillation, ECG interpretation, temporary pacing, and advanced hemodynamics are required. This RN position includes the following physical requirements: being on one's feet for extended periods of time (including walking/standing and wearing lead), exposure to infectious diseases, and hazardous situations for which they are trained; be able to assist in transporting, lifting and positioning of patients; be able to bend, lift, push, and pull equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:Recent Cardiac Cath Lab or Cardiology CCU experience considered an asset. Recent ICU experience. Experience in interventional cardiology or procedural nursing environments. Completion of recognized Critical Care Course. Interventional scrub training or willing to obtain. Advanced hemodynamic monitory systems or willing to obtain. Strong familiarity with high-acuity cardiac monitoring and emergency response systems.
