The Registered Nurse (RN) is an integral member of the Pediatric Medicine team, supporting the delivery of high-quality, family-centred care within the Pediatric Complex Care and Seasonal Capacity Program at the Stollery Children’s Hospital. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in an innovative and evolving clinical environment while caring for children with medical complexity and their families. Working collaboratively with physicians, allied health professionals, nursing colleagues, patients and families, the RN provides safe, evidence-informed care to children with complex and often highly individualized healthcare needs. Nurses in this program develop expertise in caring for patients who may require medical technology, complex medication and feeding regimens, respiratory support, and coordinated multidisciplinary care. The RN contributes to a culture of safety, collaboration, continuous learning and patient- and family-centred care. This role requires a nurse who is adaptable, comfortable working in a changing clinical environment, and committed to strong communication, teamwork and thoughtful care planning. Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
Additional Required Qualifications:A minimum of two years of recent pediatric nursing experience is required. Demonstrated ability to provide safe, compassionate, evidence-informed care to children with complex and evolving healthcare needs is required. Strong pediatric assessment, critical thinking, clinical decision-making, and prioritization skills are essential. The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and develop collaborative relationships with patients, families, nursing colleagues, physicians, and allied health professionals. Demonstrated commitment to patient- and family-centred care, continuous learning, and professional development is required. The successful candidate must be adaptable and comfortable working within a dynamic and evolving clinical environment, including responding effectively to changing patient acuity, priorities, and operational needs.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience caring for children with medical complexity, including patients requiring medical technology, respiratory support, enteral feeding, and/or complex discharge planning, is strongly preferred. Recent experience within the Pediatric Complex Care Program is considered an asset.
