Your Opportunity:

The Registered Nurse (RN) reports to the clinic manager of Medicine Clinics. The RN works in a fast paced Clinic. The RN does the initial assessment and administration of general treatment to the patient under the direction of the physician. As an RN in an Ambulatory setting you are an important part of an interdisciplinary team that ensures appropriate patient care in an outpatient setting. The RN plays a key role in the support of an integrated and holistic approach to the patient's healthcare and health promotion. The RN acts as the liaison between the interdisciplinary team and other providers to support the patient.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Previous RN experience as an RN for a min of 4 years. Previous experience in General Internal Medicine, Hematology and/or Pulmonary Medicine within the last 3 years. Previous ambulatory/outpatient care experience. Connect Care experience, including clinical documentation and charting. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing demands and changing priorities within a busy ambulatory clinic environment. Ability to provide hands-on patient care within the RN scope of practice, including assisting with patient positioning, mobility and transfers as required. Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 10–15 kg as required for patient care and clinic activities. Ability to frequently stand, walk and move throughout the clinic during the workday. Ability to perform routine clinical activities requiring bending, reaching, twisting and sustained periods of standing and walking. Ability to safely assist patients with mobility needs, including bariatric patients, within the ambulatory clinic environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience applying and interpreting 24-hour Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM). Experience providing patient teaching and education. Experience assisting physicians with minor procedures, including bone marrow biopsies. Experience working in an ambulatory General Internal Medicine clinic. Experience working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary ambulatory care team.
