Your Opportunity:

We are seeking a dynamic, experienced, and motivated registered nurse to add to our team of nursing professionals at the Forzani & MacPhail Colon Cancer Screening Centre (CCSC). This position reports to the Manager/Delegate and is responsible for providing safe, effective, high-quality nursing care at CCSC. The nurse will have an in-depth knowledge and expertise related to CCSC workflow and the patient population. A minimum current experience of 3-5 years working at CCSC or in Endoscopy is preferred. Duties include assisting the physician with scoping procedures, administering procedural sedation, providing both pre and post procedure care for patients undergoing colonoscopy, leading both group and individual patient education classes, conducting individual screening medical histories and assessments, and other duties as required.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.

Additional Required Qualifications:

3- 5 years Recent ICU or Emergency experience required within the last 5 years. Certification in IV therapy required. Recent demonstrated experience (at least 3 years within the last 5 years) in administering and caring for patients receiving IV conscious sedation required. Ability to function independently and within a team in a fast-paced environment required. Excellent communication, organization and decision-making skills required. Demonstrated ability to interact within a multi-disciplinary team. Professional manner with a focus on ensuring a very positive patient experience required. This position requires lifting, bending, walking and standing for long periods of time. Must be able to push/pull patients on stretchers and carry up to 20 lbs for short distances. Required to do group patient teaching and 1:1 patient teaching.

Preferred Qualifications:

Active ACLS certification preferred. Current job experience at CCSC or Endoscopy preferred. Current experience with Lumens application in Connect Care preferred. Experience in provision of Group patient education preferred.
