Registered Nurse
Your Opportunity:
The Registered Nurse works in the Emergency setting. Staff provide care to emergency patients and acute medical inpatients where required. This combined unit fosters a strong collaborative team environment with Nurses, Physicians, Unit Clerks, and Health Care Aides. The rural generalist nurse provides care to a diverse cohort of patients. Unit-specific orientation is required prior to providing care. This position will report to the Unit Manager -Olds Hospital and Care Center supports two programs: Acute Care and Emergency. The Registered Nurse will be committed to providing open communication and feedback with respect for colleagues, care providers, patients, and families. The Registered Nurse will also work as a health care team member, collaborating on delivering care to meet the needs of the patients. The Registered Nurse participates in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care and should expect to work to their full scope of practice. This position offers the opportunity for personal and professional development within various teams. Your orientation will consist of online learning and buddy shifts to the units.
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum three years' experience, in the past two years, in Acute Care / Obstetrics / Emergency setting, working to full RN scope of practice. Ability to perform and document physical assessments, ability to administer medications within the acute care setting. Critical thinking skills, clinical judgement and problem solving. Ability to work as an effective team member, to accept and request direction as required. Effective interpersonal and communication skills. Basic computer skills and strong knowledge and experience using and Netcare, Connect care (EPIC). CTAS, ENPEP / FERN, ACLS. LEAD II, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, CAM A & B, PALS, TNCC,
Preferred Qualifications:Current experience in the Emergency department. ACLS, TNCC, Trauma 101, Wound care education, NRP, CAM B. Lead II, Palliative care courses, Non-Violent Crisis intervention, Labour and delivery, Obs 101. Minimum one year experience, in the past two years, in Acute Care / Obstetrics / Emergency setting, working to full RN scope of practice.
