Your Opportunity:

We are a dynamic, fast paced 39 bed unit that is focused on the post-op recovery & rehabilitation of patients after Cardiac Surgery. The Cardiac Surgery Inpatient Unit Registered Nurse (RN) is a specially trained RN who works closely in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team in the provision of excellence & seamless cardiac patient care. Our patient population is particularly complex, and acute, and requires our RN’s to possess a high level of clinical knowledge and skills. The RN is also expected to play a key role in providing team direction, clinical leadership, and advocacy for our patients. As a team member of the MAZ Cardiac Surgery Inpatient Unit, the specially trained Registered Nurse (RN) works closely in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team in the provision of excellence & seamless patient care. We are a dynamic, fast paced 39 bed unit that is focused on the post-op recovery, rehab and transition of patients and their families and our patient population is particularly complex, and acute, and requires our RN’s to possess a high level of clinical knowledge and skills. The RN is also expected to play a key role in providing team direction, clinical leadership, and advocacy for our patients.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, you must complete the following free courses: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4), available at https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules/ and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification, available at https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.

Additional Required Qualifications:

The successful candidate should also demonstrate proficient communication, assessment and critical thinking skills, and have the ability to prioritize and time management appropriately. The successful candidate will accept responsibility for maintaining unit clinical competencies through ongoing professional development, participation in unit training classes & annual recertification and participate in unit quality improvement activities. Successful completion of the Cardiac Surgery Unit Specific program. Must be able to perform patient handling and mobilization up to a 50lb level and be an active participant in performing patient resuscitation and CPR.

Preferred Qualifications:

Must have a minimum of 6 months recent experience on Cardiac Surgery. Must have availability to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
