Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, you must complete the following free courses: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4), available at https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules/ and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification, available at https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Advanced expertise in diabetes education and management, including insulin and medication therapy (including insulin pumps), blood glucose monitoring (e.g., continuous glucose monitoring), and comprehensive diabetes care planning required. Minimum of 3 years of experience within the past 4 years in ambulatory care nursing required. Case management experience required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills required. Connect Care (including interpreting electronic lab results), Netcare and Microsoft Office, experience required. Must have strong documentation abilities, be able work independently and within an interdisciplinary team. Excellent organizational and prioritization skills required. Success in this dynamic environment requires clinical expertise, technological skill, and a strong commitment to continuing education and ongoing improvement as must be able to manage multiple different types of insulin pumps. Moderate physical activity required , including frequent overhead reaching, upward looking, and prolonged computer and keyboard use. Ability to assist patients with mobility challenges, including patient transfers, supporting bariatric clients, and tasks requiring bending, stooping, twisting, and walking long distances. Regular lifting and carrying of 10 to 15 kilograms are required. Also, must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) certification. Experience managing insulin pumps.
