The successful candidate will be required to participate in a structured Cath Lab Training program delivered in either Calgary or Edmonton prior to the opening of the Cath Lab at Red Deer Regional. This is a full-time 12-week training period (minimum), with additional orientation and competency development continued as required on FTE and assignment clinical scheduling needs. The training is mandatory prior to independent patient practice in the Red Deer Cath Lab in early 2027. Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4): https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification: https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.

Additional Required Qualifications:

2 years in the last 5 of critical care experience. The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate competency in a high-acuity interventional cardiac environment, including: Interventional scrub training (or willingness to obtain). Ability to wear a lead apron (15–20 lbs) for prolonged periods of time. Ability to manage a high volume of patient transfers throughout each shift. Participation in on-call coverage for urgent and emergent Cardiac Cath Lab procedures, including evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays. Rotation between the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and Cardiac Recovery Room as scheduled. Advanced hemodynamic monitoring systems (or willingness to obtain). Clinical experience requirements: Minimum of two (2) years of recent critical care experience. Applicants must not have been away from a critical care environment for more than two (2) years. Completion of a recognized Critical Care Course is an asset. Current certifications in defibrillation, ECG interpretation, temporary pacing, and advanced hemodynamics are required. This RN position includes the following physical requirements: being on one's feet for extended periods of time (including walking/standing and wearing lead), exposure to infectious diseases, and hazardous situations for which they are trained; be able to assist in transporting, lifting and positioning of patients; be able to bend, lift, push, and pull equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Recent Cardiac Cath Lab or Cardiology CCU experience considered an asset. Recent ICU experience. Experience in interventional cardiology or procedural nursing environments. Completion of recognized Critical Care Course. Interventional scrub training or willing to obtain. Advanced hemodynamic monitory systems or willing to obtain. Strong familiarity with high-acuity cardiac monitoring and emergency response systems.
