Your Opportunity:

SHC Medical Specialty Clinic is recruiting a permanent full-time RN. Reporting to the Unit Manager of Medical Specialty Clinics. We are seeking a knowledgeable and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Rheumatology Clinic team. The RN will support physicians and patients through clinical care coordination, patient education, medication management, and infusion support. This role is ideal for an RN who values continuity of care, patient education, and working with complex chronic conditions in an outpatient setting. The Rheumatology Clinic at SHC provides care to patients with chronic health conditions. The clinic is fast paced, and this role encompasses a large amount of patient education and ongoing patient care. The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent communication with patients, families, and members of the interdisciplinary team. They must be able to organize and prioritize tasks, have strong critical thinking skills and assessment skills. The successful candidate will understand and comply with practice standards set by the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA), the Health Professions Act, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP), Protection of Persons in Care Act, Health Information Act and other relevant legislation.  The RN is guided by their level of education, expertise, experience, demonstrated skill level, and Alberta Health Services policies, procedures, and job description.  They will also self-identify professional development needs and competencies thereby seeking appropriate learning opportunities and critically reflecting on their abilities and practices.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4): https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification: https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Acute care nursing experience, experience managing complex medical patients. Outpatient/ambulatory experience, minimum 2 years experience 0.5FTE or greater in the last 5 years. Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time and work at a computer. Must be able to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time (up to 80% of the shifts), bend, kneel, rotate and reach to assist patients in clinic, lift 20 lbs. Proficient English language skills, written and verbal. Strong leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills. Expertise in use of nursing process (assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation). Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills, organizational skills, time management.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor of Nursing. Minimum 2 years of ambulatory experience. Previous Rheumatology experience. Internal medicine and/or autoimmune disease knowledge, infusion therapy, or outpatient clinic experience preferred. Case management experience. Familiar with biologics and IM injections. Strong assessment, organizational and communication skills. Ability to create and evaluate patient care plans by coordinating with physicians and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
