Wetaskiwin has an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse (RN) in their Emergency/Outpatients Department! Wetaskiwin Emergency Department (ED) is a 24-bed unit. As an RN in our ED and member of our nursing care team, your Emergency Department experience will be valuable in our busy Department.. You will also demonstrate genuine interest and respect for our patients and utilize your knowledge, skills, and abilities to competently provide direct patient and family centered care. Wetaskiwin is located 70 km south of Edmonton in the heart of Central Alberta. The city name comes from the Cree word which means the hills where peace was made. You can take a self-guided tour through the historic downtown and read about the peace cairn that commemorates sixty years of peace between the Blackfoot and the Cree. Wetaskiwin has an extensive trail system that leads you around the entire city with a direct connection to By-the-Lake Park. Year-round markets provide citizens and visitors with fresh fruit, produce and many different homemade items. The Manluk Centre offers swim lessons, Fitness programs and Aquatic Leadership courses, as well as party facilities. There’s always something to do in Wetaskiwin! Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4): https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification: https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum 1 year experience as a Registered Nurse in Emergency Department. Minimum 1 year Connect Care experience Current ACLS, CTAS and Lead II. Strong communication skills both written and orally.

Preferred Qualifications:

ENPEP-Emergency Nursing Provincial Education Program. CAM-A-Cardiac Arrest Management. TNCC- Trauma Nursing Core Course. ENPC – Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course. PALS-Pediatric Advanced Life Support. Pediatric Building Blocks or PEARS. NRP-Neonatal Resuscitation Program. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.
