Your Opportunity:

The Cardiac and Internal Medicine Clinics within SHC is recruiting a permanent full time Registered Nurse (RN). Reporting to the Unit Manager of Cardiac Diagnostics and Cardiology/Internal Medicine Clinics, the RN is responsible for the coordination of patients attending various clinics at SHC and will be a support for the staff within the clinics. Specifically, the RN is required to: Work collaboratively and as a support to all members of the interdisciplinary team. Demonstrate clear and effective communication between team members and with patients and families. Float between the various clinics recognizing where the greatest need for support is. Perform intake for patients including vital signs, height, weight and medication reconciliation. Take a proactive approach in the order entry of electrocardiograms (ECGs) where required. Demonstrate efficiency and organization in assigning patients to clinic rooms. Taking a proactive approach in planning ahead for clinics to ensure all resources required are met prior to the day of clinic; reporting this to the Unit Manager or involving the Clinical Nurse Educator for educational opportunities and workflow management. The successful candidate will understand and comply with practice standards set by the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA), the Health Professions Act, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP), Protection of Persons in Care Act, Health Information Act and other relevant legislation. The RN is guided by their level of education, expertise, experience, demonstrated skill level, and Alberta Health Services policies, procedures, and job description.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4): https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification: https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Registration with CARNA. Basic Cardiac Life Support- Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP). Minimum 2 years' experience in an ambulatory clinic setting within the last 4 years Minimum of 2 years acute Cardiology and Internal Medicine experience within the past 4 years (equivalent to 0.5 FTE or greater). Current dysrhythmia certification. IV initiation, maintenance, and removal certification. IV medication administration certification. IV direct medication certification. Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time and walk, bend, reach, kneel, lift minimum 20 lbs Must be able to sit and work at a computer for long periods of time Proficient English language skills, verbal and written

Preferred Qualifications:

Nursing experience with complex internal medicine patients, hypertension, Lyme disease, hypermobility, chronic fatigue, lifestyle management, chronic health conditions, multi-system health management Experience with patient teaching Experience in performing orthostatic vital signs. Experience with providing virtual patient care QI experience Familiarity with the following IT systems: Netcare & Connect Care
