Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Unit Manager of the Pediatric Cardiology Clinic at the Stollery Children’s Hospital, this role is a key member of the clinic’s interdisciplinary team. We are looking for a dynamic, highly skilled, detail and quality-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care for pediatric cardiac patients in the Pediatric Cardiology Clinic. The incumbent performs a variety of nursing duties in accordance with clinical policies and nursing care standards. Decisions are made in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. Will be required to travel by air and/or ground transportation to work at outreach clinics that our Pediatric Cardiology program supports. Recognizes the value of and works with a Patient and Family Centered Care philosophy, providing safe, quality care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. Will be expected as required to cross train to other areas within Stollery to support patient care.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, you must complete the following free courses: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4), available at https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules/ and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification, available at https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Previous Cardiology Acute Care or Clinic experience is required. Demonstration of assessment, critical thinking, problem-solving, organizational and patient care skills is required. Self-direction, adaptability, and flexibility are required while working in a fast-paced, multi-faceted work environment. Requires the ability to work independently and effectively in an interdisciplinary setting and maintain a high degree of confidentiality. Requires the ability to assess patient care needs and concerns and provide nursing follow-up care within Scope of Practice. Detail-oriented and ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines in a timely manner required. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are required, including public speaking and teaching abilities. This position requires excellent working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office, including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook e-mail and Calendar. Physical requirements include lifting, pushing, and pulling to transfer or transport patients and equipment. Extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Pediatric Cardiology Clinic or Acute Care experience preferred. Equivalent education and experience may be considered. Competency in Connect Care, Netcare and WCCHN programs a definite asset.
