Registered Nurse
Your Opportunity:
The incumbent works in a dynamic, multidisciplinary, multi-modality environment. Responsibilities are to educate and prepare patients and parents undergoing a variety of Diagnostic Imaging Procedures, including but not limited to Interventional Procedures, CT, MRI under General Anesthetic and working in a fast paced surgical suite environment in a scrub and circulating nurse role. The Registered Nurse works with the team to evaluate the patient’s condition and provide care while in the Diagnostic Imaging Department. The successful candidate will be required to work all shifts and on call as assigned. Key components of this position are: Planning, implementation and evaluation of the Pre-Operative admission process, consisting of both internal and external members to provide a Pre-Operative Nursing Assessment. Day of evaluation of the patient's scheduled procedure. Providing collaborative actions that support Patient and Family Centered Care with the competent and timely management of nursing assessment via telephone and computer applications.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Additional Required Qualifications:Regional certification in IV, IV medication administration, CVC, and IV pumps. Certification in airway management (ACH Only). A minimum of five years’ current nursing experience; at least three of which are Critical Care in a tertiary level setting required. Minimum recent 1 year of Pediatric experience in Diagnostic Imaging Interventional procedures and/or OR Surgical Scrub and Circulating Nursing experience required. Must be able to manage emergency patient lifts if required during a Code Blue situation. Must be able to stand wearing lead aprons for an extended period of time and must be able at times to work alone.
Preferred Qualifications:Demonstrated excellent English verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, problem solving and decision making skills. Demonstrated ability to work in a demanding, dynamic environment. Demonstrated ability to work independently or as a team member in a multidisciplinary environment. Demonstrates commitment to providing quality service that supports the Pre-Operative assessment process.
