If you’re looking to make the difference in the lives of Albertans and impact the care they receive, the position of Palliative Care Resource Nurse on the North Zone Specialty Programs-Palliative Care Team could be for you. As a Palliative Care Resource Nurse, you will play a key role in the care of clients served in Continuing Care within the North Zone. You will be a member of a mobile/virtual interdisciplinary team providing consultation services for palliative/end of life care clients. By using a client and family-centered care approach, you will work with local clinicians and other teams to provide specialized assessment, care planning & follow-up for clients in a consultative and limited direct service model. You will provide coaching & education to other care team members to build capacity in the care of client with palliative & end of life care needs. There is a strong focus on multidisciplinary & collaborative processes. You will participate in assessments, case reviews & consultation with other team members. You will liaise with representatives in Continuing Care, Home & Community Care, Acute Care, community agencies & others for assessment & care planning. You will use information gathered from direct care staff to identify system & client specific barriers & provide leadership in system navigation. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable & is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum of five (5) years of recent RN clinical experience. Minimum of one (1) years’ experience, within in the last five (5) years, working with palliative care clients. Minimum of one (1) year experience, within the last five (5) years, working in Home & Community Care and/or a hospice setting. LEAP and/or palliative care training. Competent with MS Office Suite, TEAMs, ZOOM, and Tele-health. Able to work independently in different environments (weather conditions). Must be physically capable of carrying approx. 25-30lbs. This position supports clients in the North Zone, located out of Peace River. This position includes virtual work and in-person client consultations. Travel (of up to 2 hours) is required.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience in at least two (2) care sectors. Connect Care trained. CNA Certification in Palliative/ Hospice Care. Experience in program planning, interdisciplinary practice, and research activities. Completion of McMaster Case Management Training-Level II. Previous experience with providing adult education.
